Getting organized is a very popular resolution because people just want to get through all the clutter and achieve more things. Today I’ll be talking to you about how to stay organized for the new year and what I’m doing to -try- to stay organized. . January can be a boring month but let’s not make it boring instead make it a month to work things out and get more settled into the year. Here are 7 things you can do to start becoming more organized.
1. Keep a bullet journal or Planner
Want something a little more customizable? Then use a bullet journal! Most of them you start from scratch… but I hear ya! You don’t want to waste your time perfecting each little thing. I get it, but there are TONS of easy ways to get started. Don’t feel overwhelmed! It’s easier than you might think so i encourage you to try it and maybe start with my post on the Beginners Guide to Bullet Journaling. Don’t wanna start now? Don’t worry! It’s not really a yearly thing you can start in any month!
2. Self Journal
My dad needed something to keep him and his thoughts organized this year. He’s not really a “Happy Planner” guy and didn’t have time to be making a Bullet Journal. 3. Step by step...or Check by check
Don’t feel like you have to tackle everything in one day! Take it slow and make lists(helpful with Bullet Journaling;)) Take your time following your priorities and complete each goal successfully.
4. Have monthly Goals
Start small! (The Self Journal also really focuses on setting monthly goals and achieving them) It might feel like you have too many things to tackle but all you have to do is set up 1-3 monthly goals and just focus on achieving those during the month.
5. Rearrange your room
I always feel so much better and refreshed after I clean, organize, and rearrange my room. Just play some music and get to work! It will be worth it in the end once you see the change. You don’t have to go out there and buy all the stuff, just start with what you have and play around with what you can do with it. I always tell myself that if my desk is messy, my thoughts get messy too.
6. Clean out your closet and Donate Items
This follows number 5. Maybe you have some clothes you realize you don’t wear often and it could happen to be things someone else really needs. Once you have your closet cleaned out and almost new, you too might feel the same. Don’t start the year hoarding and buying so much stuff, keep it simple and then your year will be more simple.
7. Letter to yourself
Even though this one sounds silly, try it! For bigger yearly goals, I like to write letters to my future self and i find it kinda helps. Once you have those bigger goals in mind, write a short letter to yourself asking if you accomplished them and what is happening. It always feels better to write down your thoughts and goals so you know what needs to get done.
And that’s it! One thing I am doing this year, or i should say the next 5 years, is writing one small ‘line’(paragraph) every day for 5 years! Then I can look back to see all the things I did each day! Pretty cool right? Not too late to start one, grab yours here! I hope you have a fantastic day!
